Firetrap: Cutie Canvas Trainers

Hey folks!

Just a quick one today as I’ve had a little success 🙂

I’ve been on the hunt for a comfortable pair of basic pumps / plimsolls since last summer. My previous pair have been so well worn for summer dog walking that they just aren’t acceptable for public consumption any more! I’ve bought numerous pairs but all of them have failed the comfort test once I’ve done more than walk around my bedroom for a few minutes. Until now!

I’ve found these bargainous Firetrap beauties online for a mere £12.99 and you can even get them in baby pink, baby blue or black instead of the white I have gone for and they are fab.

I think the key for narrow feet is having the laces run most of the way down the foot; it allows you so many more options for securing a snug fit exactly where you need it. They probably won’t last a hugely long time before they start to look a bit tatty, but at that price it’s really not a big problem if you have to buy a second pair. (Maybe do that, just in case they sell out!)

These, combined with the sunshine and blue skies of today have made me a very happy camper. Until next time… x

Simple, Black Ballerinas

I’m sure you’ll all be familiar with the fact that even finding what should be simple shoes can be tricky when your feet don’t fit the standard mould. Your friends walk into shops and come out with their favourite of several options without giving it a second thought, while you spend months hunting for just one pair that are comfortable enough to walk in.

Today, I’m going to highlight a few pairs of classic black ballerinas that I think could be winning options, depending on your budget and preferences. A staple shoe for any female, especially those who have to dress in work attire but also spend a lot of the day on their feet. If you have any other great options, please do chip in, in the comments!

I don’t think any of the options are too crazily priced to put them out of the league of most people, but hopefully that’s given you some inspiration if you’re looking for an easy to wear black ballerina!

Happy shopping x

Clarks: Grace Isla Court Heels

Before I start this post, I will just let you know that I haven’t had a chance to get in store and try these on but I spotted them online and I think they look amazing. Plus, there is so far only 1 review of this shoe and the reviewer says that they are so comfy it’s like wearing slippers. Sounds good to me!

When you look at these pictures, you’ll probably think that review sounds pretty accurate too; I certainly looked at them and thought I needed to find a space in my wardrobe for that level of comfort.

These super comfy looking shoes are part of the new season collection from Clarks*. They’re called Grace Isla and come in the 3 colours shown. My personal favourite the bottom colour, dusky pink. I think this will be incredibly versatile in the summer. They’re made of real leather and retail at £70. Plenty of stock online at the moment and you can find them here.

The elastic in the front and the tie in the middle suggest that these will stay on the foot nicely. Typically, I have found Clarks shoes to be reasonably narrow around the front, so these are most definitely on my hit list!

If anyone has tried these, I would love to know. Otherwise, I’ll update this if I get so lucky as to buy a pair.

Happy walking! x

Dune: Harvest Elasticated Flats

Well hello again! I promised you in my last post that I have been out and about trying various shoes and the next installment comes from Dune. I was in my local store trying on some awesome shoes, (post coming soon) when I spotted these and thought I’d test them out.

The shoes in question are the below; a pretty cute looking pair of practical pumps if ever there were!

As you can see, these beauties come in black and silver – for what it’s worth, my money is on the silver pair for summer. They’re just so versatile!

The higher price tag and the Dune label means that you get more than your average high street shoe out of these and they are made from gorgeous, soft leather. For me, that’s a bonus as leather moulds to your feet so much better than synthetic materials do.

Anyhow, I tried these on as Dune are usually fairly narrow and the elasticated back had me all hopeful. They are a good, snug fit on my feet but I found that they were just a smidge short. I have quite big toes so I had that whole “toe sticking up into the leather making a toe shape” thing going on. I hate that! If you’ve got more delicate, feminine toes than my beasties, these might just be perfect for you though. They really are great shoes and I definitely recommend trying them on if you’re looking for your next comfy but pretty pair of shoes.

Anyone else had any shoe based successes recently? x

Zara: Studded Ballerinas

Hello and happy Sunday to you all! We’re well into February now, so I’m assuming that like me, shopping is back on the radar and you’re all keeping an eagle eye out for new season pieces landing in stores right about now.

I’ve been out and about and have tried a fair few more pairs of shoes to try and provide some guidance for those who are narrow of foot. I’ll kick off with some cute studded, square-toe ballerinas from Zara.

I think these little pumps are adorable and white just works in summer the way it never can in winter!

They come in at £25.99, all sizes are currently available online, though I’ve not seen them in my local store as yet.

As I was doing an order anyway and was attracted to their elasticated tops, I ordered a pair to test them out. Firstly, BINGO on some stylish shoes with elasticated tops. They definitely stay on the foot and without loads of gaping when you bend the foot to walk. The only issue I had was that they came up just a smidge short and as they aren’t real leather, they’re unlikely to give. I usually find Zara shoes to be the exact opposite and be really roomy, but not these.

Definitely worth a try because if you aren’t affected by the length being a teeny tiny bit shorter than usual, these are a great fit. You may want to order your regular size and a size up if you’re buying online, just to be sure!

That’s today’s installment! Please let me know if there’s any particular type of shoe you are after and I can start hunting on your behalf. Otherwise, you’re at the mercy of things I think I would like! x
